The Scheme
The Client wanted to a social / recreational area on the top floor, level 17 to take advantage of the breathtaking London backdrop, one of the most impressive skylines in the world. One of this buildings unique features.
The Solution
Installing a synthetic grass system on level 17 presented some serious logistical issues for getting materials to such a high level with limited access. Our solution was to reduce the roll widths and bag sizes delivered to site. This made it easier to get the materials to the roof and helped the handling during the installation.
The synthetic grass system was reinforced with additional geotextile layers so that the surface could safely take the weight of a stiletto heel. The synthetic grass was installed over a layer of SELSports units. A metal edging was installed on to the edge of the installation to provide a clean demarcation between the adjacent area. The finished surface was fully permeable.
